Teacher’s Day

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Korea celebrates the month of May as family month. A few of the holidays observed are Parent’s Day, Children’s Day, and even Teacher’s Day.

Every country should have teachers day and I don’t just say that because it’s my current profession… all teachers, even the ones that seemed kind of janky, deserve major credit.

Check out this sweet note from John,

i put together a few clips of my apartment. check ‘em out:

to be honest, i really don’t mind living in a match box. i’ve come to love the inexpensive utility bills and independence…

ring around the rosie

at the moment, this is what i do. i am a professional ring-around-the-rosier. well, professional by no means…

every week i come up with lessons for kindergarten students. the goal is to teach them without the realization that they’re learning - its quite the skill. i figure it’ll be quite useful when i marry and have to con my significant other into doing things without him realizing it. it all goes back to the basic learn, snack, nap time of life…

i AM:

  • listening to maia hirasawa
  • wearing a bandana
  • exhausted from a really good work out
  • very intrigued by my current job
  • more intuned with the importance of family
  • seriously addicted to grey’s anatomy
  • realizing the obsession that american’s have with big…apartments, houses, land, cars, portions
  • always thinking about the homies back homie
  • easily frustrated but learning how to manage that
  • 24. yet somehow 26 according to the lunar calendar
  • very thankful for many, many wonderful people/blessings in my life
  • not sure if i’m an optimist or pessimist
  • going to learn how to use html
  • how could you not love these lyrics from ‘matis and maia’…

    “she found your myspace today
sent a message wondering if you were ok
when she listened to the harmonies
something behind her heart wanted to keep
    whats left of you
she waited for hours and then
you replied with a short ‘this is the end’
    no tears running until
something behind her heart wanted to kill
    whats left of you
    though she’s dreaming of you
and maybe matis and maia go traveling again
    maybe to another state
    or maybe to japan
    it might be warmer there
    it might be prettier
    it might be easier
    definitely quiter
    somewhere else”

stay tuned…

welcome, welcome, welcome to my new site!

i’m super excited about the change because it involves many challenges to my normally lazy evening schedule. i mean, i look forward to coming home just to spend a little q.t. with my blog.

if you’re checking things out at this point (or have recently), you’ll witness a blog in the making. my adventure in wordpress land has included:

*being frustrated with blogger and the lack of themes
*wanting a wordpress theme
*whining to andriy for technical assistance
*a strong verbal beating for not listening to andriy’s advice sooner
*establishing a domain name. can you believe some stupid company already bought elmarry.com?? i mean, come on…its my last name!
*curiously venturing through wordpress
*re-learning how to ftp (its been a while…thank god for computer tools class!)
*starting a bangin’ blog roll
*first legit post

in order to keep things rolling, i’m already planning for next weeks posts. i’m thinking about a refresher course in what else, ME! so blogs will look something like this:

1. iAM
2. iDO*
3. iLIVE
4. iDREAM

*number 3 is not in reference to the recent ridiculous speculation by my mom that i eloped :(

hope you stop by often, comment ALWAYS, and enjoy my time on the story telling carpet (first reference to me being a kindergarten teacher…)
